About Us

Hello all,

We are excited to announce that work is underway to release a collaborative "social" journal entitled The Tarantism. The goal is to have a student-submitted, edited, and run journal of impassioned rants. It will become an online venue for students to write about their passions: ranging from tirades on cultural topics such as the latest crappy movie to social commentaries on the state of environmentalism, healthcare, and even the sociological significance of the "wingman." Think of it as a newspaper focused around the opinions, editorials, and critiques, completely unmuddled by the structured, almost formulaic, journalists merely describing events in time. Forget the attempted unbiased media! We want the opinions of the students, the passionate outlashings against the status quo as well as the ardent fulminatings against the wild calls for change!

The Tarantism is a place where students can get their ideas heard, and not just by the so-called "friends" who can see our Facebook notes or the few people who may read an article in a school newspaper, but (hopefully) by a network of equally enthused students across the world. As we realize that ideas are not exclusively expressed through newspaper-styled editorials, we would greatly appreciate and encourage the submission of other creative outlets: comics, drawings, poetry, photos to name a few. We want the fervidly opinionated, the bitingly honest, the wondrously creative. We are simply making a community of students, and we rely completely on you, the students, and whatever you submit.

We accept all essays, editorials, articles, creative writings, and visual arts. They can be funny or serious and about anything, just go fill out the Tarantism submission form. How opinionated or outrageous is allowed? Everything from the mildly to the wildly. Just submit. We'll accept everything so long as it is well written and not terribly offensive.

Also please forward this to as many people possible. We want to get submissions from everywhere, and we want everybody who may be interested in submitting to get the word. If you don't think you can submit, please do us the favor of telling somebody you know who may want to. Being a modest project done in the freetime of two college students, we don't have the resources to excessively advertise. If you would like to get updates to the release date and see where we are with the project, become a fan on Facebook: The Tarantism!

If you have any questions, clarifications, comments, suggestions, wish to express interest and bounce a few ideas around, feel compelled to praise and/or worship me, or need some invaluable 1-on-1 time, feel free to email me at arick[at]thetarantism.com.
